Tool # 11

The first thing I would talk to my students about is security and safety. They must be careful about how much information they offer online. They cannot be all trusting to the online community. They also need to make sure they protect their passwords. They would not one someone pretending to be them by accessing their account.

I would also talk to them about digital etiquuette and how once you send something online it will live forever.

I would talk to them about digital law, and how to be careful and make sure any material they have borrowed and would like to publish does not have an restrictions against that.

I think I would teach the ideals by taking them one at a time, and showing examples of what that would look like.

Tool # 10

I really like the alphabet tracing. I have been working with my 5 year old son on his handwriting and this app gives children a chance to become familiar with the shape of the letters.
I also liked the different langauge apps like Chinese and Sign Language.

Students in class could use apps for different things. I wonder if there is one that could help with multiplication. It would definately keep their attention, and it is simple for them to use.

Tool # 9

Jing is a great way to add visuals with your conversations. It is another great way of sharing.

Skype is a great and easy way to have students share with other students. We have had students e-mail other students about projects and assignements, but doing so through Skype would be an actual real time conversation.

Tool # 8

This first hot link is a video about land slides. It has great video capturing land slides.

This link is about tsunamis.

Video is very useful in the classroom. I could have told students about a land slide, but it would not have the impact of actually seeing the event with thier own eyes.

Tool # 7

I attempted several times to upload my video that is in WVM format as directed but it does not work and I recieved a messge that I should try again later. So making the video was easy and fun....I let you know later if I am ever able to get it posted...

Good luck to me!

Well success and never too soon. It posted but at the bottom of the page. That is fine by me. Good luck too all and wouldn't you know it...it just took me all summer to finish. I guess I can start my vacation now....okay I have Wednesday and ...oh no....

Tool #6 Now we know who is bringing what

Many times we have students collaborate on assignments. They brainstorm ideas together and even put together outlines. This is a great way to offer students a chance to work with tech and each other.

I thought that our team could set up a wiki for all the social activities for the year. When we have to bring things for birthdays and other campus occasions. This would be great way for everyone on the team to know exactly what is going on and how far along the process has gone. They can jump in and include information at anytime.

Having participated in the never ending barrage of e-mails this is a great way to collaborate with a group. I really liked the link part of the page, becuase I can see how it can get full really quickly.

Tool #5 What do you expect now... team planning

I guess the olden days of hording your links is a thing of the past. What I do like about the SOCIAL side of this is that you can open up your links to your team (so that no administrator can claim you are not a team player) and there is no spoon feeding involved.

Now if they could come up with a way to notify you when your link has been updated and the url changed ... that would be cool.

This is great way to avoid the BAD sites the kids happen upon when searching through web pages. You can create a set of safe links that the children can access to complete the assignment you have given them. Once I had the children looking up 'rocks and minerals' and lets just say that it should not have to cost you $9.95 a minute.

Here are my two links:
