Tool #4 Something Useful

I really liked Google Documents because I ran into a whole lot of trouble this past year with confusing versions and edits. I love the way this would sort out this issue. I also like that the documents will not be saved on the actual computer or in a specific district server. In the past many student have lot work because of computer issues and server issues. A student could also save the document much longer. Previously student work had been erased or deleted at years end because of the server becoming too full. That also applies to teacher documents. Students love to share their work with each other and this is a really great way for kids to access the work at any point in the day when they have an opportunity.

Google Reader is a time saver. When you are following blogs it is a hassle to go from one to the other. It is also nice to see the updates. When I looked at the blogs I was following I could quickly see if anything new had been posted and to which blog. I think one thing students do not have enough of at school is time on the computer and so having a time saver such as this is a great benefit.

Tool # 3 Funny by pictures

I found that wordle would be a fun way to mix up famous mottos or quotes. I think the ease of comic strip generator would be a fun way for students to sequence events in a story.

Tool # 2 Friends in low places

Building an online education community seems like a fun way and efficent way to share information. I think it also helps people that are long winded to get to the point of their comments.
I really agree with the advice about making it easy to comment. I do not like to sign in either. It seems like a hassle and I am not happy with the amount of personal information I have had to give in this enitre process.

If am following the following blogs; Serenity Now, Teachin in Flip Flops, My Blogs, fabulous fourth grade teacher, and But it's Summer!

Tool #1 A bit of a wild card

At first I thought that the process would make me feel much like Alice in Wonderland...a scary, different, curious place. Creating the blog turned out to be very simple. The step by step guidance was extremely useful. It was fun to pick out all the cool things and to be able to personalize your avatar. I did find that keeping a tab open with the 11 tools site was helpful when it came to uploading the gadget...check it out I'm speaking blog talk! I think it would be fun for my students to create their own avatar and read each others blogs. This is very engaging and entertaining. I can see how it would very easily captivate my student's minds.
